Walking With Giants | Call For Artists

Here at Boomer Gallery we always strive to create the best opportunities and bring a lot of value into each show but the upcoming exhibition is something unique and maybe a once in a lifetime opportunity for all of us. 

After a long correspondence, the well known art critic Anthony Fawcett has agreed to be the co- curator of our upcoming exhibition from May “Walking With Giants”.

Moreover, he has agreed to write and publish an article about it. 

Anthony Fawcett is a British writer, art critic, and a former curator to John Lennon and Yoko Ono from 1968 until 1970.

Anthony Fawcett invented the Beck’s Art Sponsorship Programme and Beck’s Futures, the UK’s largest artists prize, he created the limited edition Beck’s Artist’s Bottles commissioning artists Gilbert & George, Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, and Tracey Emin. During the 25 years of the Sponsorship Programme he masterminded an annual programme commissioning Rachel Whiteread’s “House ” with Artangel.

As Beck’s Historic Art Curator, Anthony commissioned an Andy Warhol limited edition Beck’s Bottle Label of his 1986 self-portrait “Fright Wig” launched at Art Basel, Miami, 2011.

As the Global Art Curator for Vertu, Anthony launched the Vertu Global Art Commission with Richard Wilson’s, “Hold The Line” at The Saatchi Gallery and the Shanghai Gallery of Art in 2011. Vertu supported the private Museum/Collectors Forum, Hong Kong Art Fair 2012. 

Anthony was a Trustee of the Whitechapel Art Gallery from 1990- 1996, he was a board member of the Rambert Dance Company and the Development Board of the Institute of Contemporary Arts, he is currently a member of the Whitechapel Art Gallery Development Board.

Anthony Fawcett was an art critic at Vogue when eighteen.

At the moment Anthony is collaborating closely with the Tate Gallery Archive, who are acquiring his extensive archive, & working with several global agencies to launch his eighty historical interviews with both artists & musicians from the past 40 years.

The theme of this exhibition is a reference to Anthony’s vivid career and the aim is to promote the selected artists into established circles in the art world. 

This Exhibition Will Take Place At Our Gallery Space In Tower Bridge Area, London Uk. 

The space is located in one of most iconic places in the world and the most visited place in the whole UK. 

The space is nestled between modern and classic London icons: The Shard 4 minutes, Tower Bridge 1 minute, London Bridge 2 minutes. 

With a blend of traditional Victorian brick walls and a central private bar just for our audience, the space is unique in the whole city of London. 

There are no subject restrictions just a couple of guidelines.

To apply simply email us 3 images of your work (3 different works) Title_ Size_ Medium_ Price and a short bio, no more than 150 words at boomergallery@gmail.com. 

Eligible media but not limited: 

paintings | sculptures | photography | Installations | prints | textile | illustrations | digital art | poems | etc. 

To make a submission is free but we do charge a £165 fee for each participating artist as we only charge 15% sales commission and that includes: 

printed catalogs | printed posters | printed brochures | admin | graphic designer | champagne | caviar | professional photographer | hostess | security | bartender | printing and framing for the artists who opt for that. 

Important dates: 

- the open call will run until the 30th of April 2023

- artworks delivery date is the 4th of May 2023. 

- the exhibition will run from the 5th of May 2023 until the 10th of May 2023 with an official opening event on the 5th of May 2023 from- 6:00 to 9:00 pm at our gallery space in Tower Bridge Area, London. 

Alternatives. 

We have a lot of enquires from foreign artists to exhibit with us but sometimes shipping the work to London in time might be a bit difficult, that’s why we’ve come up with an alternative! If you are one of the accepted artists and you find it hard to ship your work to us, you can send us photos of your work and we can print it and frame it for you at no additional cost. 

We have 3 available sizes for the frame: 

1. 32 x 32 cm
2. 30 x 40 cm 
3. 40 x 50 cm

Event. 

This will be a physical exhibition and it will take place in our gallery space in Tower Bridge Area, London.
